Reel Steel present the rarely-screened debut feature from director David Lynch – Eraserhead (1977) – in 35mm, at Sheffield’s historic Abbeydale Picture House.

Set in an unnamed, desolate urban wasteland, Eraserhead follows the toil of shock-haired Henry Spencer, whose bleak existence is made just that much worse when his girlfriend reveals that she has given birth to their “child” – an indescribable, wailing mutant.

A dream of dark and troubling things… David Lynch’s 1977 debut feature, is both a lasting cult sensation and a work of extraordinary craft and beauty.

With its mesmerizing black-and-white photography, evocative sound design and unforgettable central performance, this visionary nocturnal odyssey continues to haunt cinema like no other film.
